Our Vision

The Royal Albert Dock will be a vibrant waterfront hub to live, work and play – sustainably enhancing local heritage assets and culture while providing green space and ensuring wider connectivity.

Design and Master-planning principles

Below are the main set of design and master-planning principles that should be enacted for this site that link directly from the vision above. The general approach to master-planning that I will undertake is one which makes successful meanwhile use of the Docks area, and enforcing sufficient public open and green spaces in the design. The current masterplan approach taking place to the site is far more focused on economic growth and possible has disregard for these two elements.

Ensuring meanwhile uses - making efficient use of space, stimulating vitality and serving the community.

Creating an attractive urban landscape for people with a range employment opportunities across the site

Provide mixed tenure and sustainable housing for the community - of which at least 50% will be affordable in line with Newham Mayor's manifesto.

Maintain and enhance local heritage assets by making them more accessible to the local community and tourists.

Protect and enhance the biodiversity of the area, fostering green space within the site.

Better connect the docks to the surrounding area by improving green infrastructure and bridge infrastructure.
